The social organization of child care from a gender perspective

Authors

Keywords:

child care, social organization of care, gender, working woman

Abstract

Introduction: Care seeks well-being for the subjects, security of social groups and preservation of the species ; however, due to the complexity of the world and the social dynamics of today, the way in which society is organized to take care of its infants is modified.

Objective: Identify the state of knowledge related to the social organization of child care from a gender perspective.

Methods: An integrative review of the literature was carried out from a qualitative approach, based on the consultation in databases as ProQuest, Alexander Street Press, Scopus, Ebooks Collection, Redalyc, EBSCO HOST, Science Direct, eLibro, Gale and others of free access such as Scielo and LILACS because they guarantee high scientific content. For the construction of the article, the steps suggested by Whittemore and Knafl on the stages of the integrative review were developed. Search terms were normalized and keywords were defined through health science descriptors (DeCS and Mesh), as well as social science descriptors (CLACSO)

Conclusions: The work of care must be recognized socially, economically and politically, so that it reconciles the family-work duality and the full development of women in society.
