Abstract

Introduction: Latin America has the attribute of being a multi-ethnic region; being one of its ethnic groups of importance the indigenous one. Historically, they have sought the implementation of intercultural health in their communities through the execution of strategies that seek the articulation of traditional medicine and Western medicine, this in order to provide health services with quality, respect and inclusion to their culture and their traditional therapies. Acting under the guidelines of a health with a multicultural approach allows the preservation of the culture, beliefs and traditions of the indigenous communities, the non-violation of their rights, in addition to eliminating or mitigating the exclusion and subordination that historically since the time of colonization have lived these populations. Objective: To carry out a review of the literature that allows us to understand which strategies, policies and plans have been implemented. Conclusions: The commitment of all these actors is required to achieve discussion, sharing knowledge, beliefs and ideologies that contribute to the design of intercultural processes and actions, where the integral, complementary and respectful fusion of perspectives that at first glance is evident are considered divergent.
