Health Education Process on Blood Donations

Introduction: Health education is a widely used tool in recruiting new blood donors.
Objective: To update health personnel regarding the health education process on blood donations.
Methods: This review was carried out through Medline and SciELO repository using the key words: blood donation, health education, knowledge about blood donations. The articles published during the last 5 years and which addressed health education and blood donations were considered. For the analysis, thirty articles were chosen for the combination of the word blood donation, another 30 for the combination of health education and another 30 for knowledge about blood donations. The 90 references were analyzed, and after checking those that would be useful for fulfilling the objective of the article, those that appear in the review were chosen.
Conclusions: The process of health education on blood donations is determined by cultural and tradition differences and by inequalities in the economic and technological development achieved in each country.
