Potentialities of psychology in the face of a psychoeducational intervention in primary caregivers

Abstract

Introduction: Primary caregivers affect their leisure activities, social relationships, intimacy, emotional balance, freedom and neglect their health, which becomes a process of high vulnerability. They promote therapeutic adherence and constitute an essential support for health professionals in the task of caring for others.

Objective: To identify the potential of Psychology as a social science in the promotion of psychoeducational interventions on self-care in primary caregivers of oncogeriatric patients in the primary health care level.

Methods: A qualitative methodology was used, specifically the case study. Documentary review, observation and professional experience were used to conduct the trial.

Conclusions: Psychology as a social science has potential for the development of psychoeducational interventions, which argues the need for its promotion and thus increase its impact on contemporary society.
